MONDAY

Today was the 100th day of school! The children enjoyed sharing and counting their collections of 100 items. We counted to 100 many different ways and there was a 100-ball drop during buddy PE time! Also the students answered the questions, "What could you eat 100 of and What would you want 100 of?" It is hard to believe we are over half way through the school year.

TUESDAY

I have been adding more academic choice into math time. The children are given several math "centers" that they are able to choose from and can move freely through. These centers could be math games, stations like 100's boards or a more structured activity with the teacher. Each of these centers have been introduced to the students before making them a choice. They really seems to be enjoying this time!

WEDNESDAY

Today, during guidance time with Mrs. Joyner, the children made Valentine's for the residents of The Meadows. They had fun decorating cards and writing messages. As part of our community service project, the students enjoy making something each month for the residents. This is also a way to show caring and citizenship. It also brightens their day!

THURSDAY

The children enjoy using the Raz-kids website to practice their reading in class. This is a great website where the students are reading books on their individual levels. There are also comprehension questions, which are an important part of the reading activity. I hope that you are using this great website at home, too. If you have any questions, please let me know!

FRIDAY

Happy Valentine’s Day! We had fun today sorting and graphing candy hearts, writing valentines for friends and family and celebrating during our Valentine’s Day party. Thank you to every one who sent something in for the party!
