Notes From Today's Lesson (my version...feel free to disagree or correct me)
GOD RAISES UP KINGS TO LEAD HIS PEOPLE
2 Sam 7:11-16
God is displaying His faithfulness, His promise, through David. We see the foreshadowing of Jesus. God is saying He is going to establish His kingdom forever. Establishing the connection between David and Jesus.
2 Sam 7:18-24
God speaks to David. Nathan's response was to glorify God. All nations will look to you, God. David's lineage was the direct line to Jesus. He has the right mindset to what God is doing.
2 Samuel 7:21-22
For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them. Wherefore thou art great, O Lord God:for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
1 Kings 1:1-4.
David is telling his son what he needs to know before he dies. You ARE a man. Be who you are. Follow God's statutes; walk in His ways. He gave his son a challenge.
1 Kings 8:54-61
Davis is about to die. His son, Solomon, is about to become king. Solomon reflected everything back to God. (Solomon's mother was Bathsheba).
1 Kings 8:61
Let your heart therefore be perfect with the Lord our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
