11/18 - 11/24/2022
It has been an exciting week at Sehome. Fall sports are wrapping up and our winter sports are starting up. We have lots of opportunities for students to find ways to connect and engage. If you have questions about what is available in terms of activities and athletics, please reach out to our administrative assistant, Kristen Cerenzia. She can help get you connected with all the things happening within our school community.
Next week, we will be sending out a survey to students and staff to get feedback on how the one lunch pilot has been going. This feedback will guide our student and staff leadership teams as we determine the next steps.
Grades for the first quarter are now finalized. If you have questions about the grades posted in Skyward, we encourage students to reach out directly to their teachers with any questions or concerns. It can be helpful to have the student cc the parent or guardian in the email so that all parties are on the same page and have the same information.
This is a great time to access our Learning Center. For more information or to sign up for a tutor, please click here.
We are in the final push of our PTSA fall fundraiser. This money is used to fund activities and events for Sehome High School 2022-2023 students. The PTSA has been a huge supporter and has made lots of fun things happen for our students and staff. Please consider donating by clicking here to help reach the goal!

SCHOOL CLOSURE INFORMATION
Emergency and Weather Procedures
It’s that time of year to think about snow and our procedures and impact of weather-related school cancellations. Depending on conditions, school could close for the day; open two hours late with regular bus routes or snow bus routes; or open on time with snow bus routes.
How can I get weather/emergency information?
Changes to the school schedule are usually announced before 6 a.m., and we use a variety of methods to keep families informed:
- To receive email and/or text alerts you need an email address and cell phone number in Skyward. We send updates through our notification tool, ParentSquare, which receives phone and email contact information data from Skyward, our student information system.
- Tune to local media or check bellinghamschools.org and the district’s social media accounts: @BhamSD on Twitter, @bellinghamschools on Facebook and @bellinghamschools on Instagram
- Call 360-676-6400 for a recorded message or 360-647-6815 for a message translated in Español, русский, tính từ and Punjabi.
Please familiarize yourself with our weather procedures at bellinghamschools.org/weather and we encourage families to know their bus snow route

MESSAGE FROM HEALTH SERVICES
We are all hearing about the high cases of RSV, flu and other respiratory illnesses including COVID-19 nationally, regionally, and now locally. This is concerning for young children and those with certain health conditions and for the strain on our health care system. Across the district, we are learning of students absent with RSV, flu and other respiratory illnesses. We want to remind families to talk with their children about following these recommended public health measures to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses:
- Stay home when ill. Return when 24 hours fever free and symptoms have improved or as directed by your health care provider. Consider wearing a mask for 10 days after symptom onset. Masks are available at the front office.
- Wash your hands. Use hand sanitizer when hand washing isn’t available.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes. Cough into your sleeve or a tissue. Consider wearing a mask.
- Stay up to date on vaccinations. Get your flu shot and COVID-19 booster.
JOIN OUR TEAM! BPS LOOKING FOR GREAT PEOPLE TO WORK IN OUR SCHOOLS!
Bellingham Public Schools continues to need staff and substitutes across our schools and needs your help in finding great people to fill these vacancies.
If you or someone you know are looking for a new opportunity on a school year schedule, we encourage you to apply.
We are looking for paraeducators and substitutes, as well as classified and certificated staff. Paraeducators work one on one or with a small group of students in a school. They often assist teachers and support students in classrooms and at recess.
