Motherboard
This is the heart of the computer, all the other components are either sat on, or connected to the motherboard
CPU
This is the brain of the computer and is connected to the motherboard.
RAM
The RAM means random access memory. And it stores your computers files and data.
Video Card
This displays the graphics on the monitor.
Power Supply
This does what it says on the tin! It supply’s the power to the computer.
Hard Disk
A magnetic disk on which you can store data on. The term hard is used to distinguish it from a soft, or floppy, disk. Hard disks hold more data and are faster than floppy disks.
Optical Drive
The optical disk is the disk drive that you can insert, CDs, DVDs etc. into.
Heat Sink
The heat sink cools down the computer. This is required so that the computer doesn’t overheat.
