Suicide Prevention Strategy Training Coming to PGHS
Dear Parents/Guardians of 9th Grade Students,
We are excited to share with you that in the coming weeks we will be partnering with Montgomery County Access Services and the Montgomery County Mobile Crisis Unit to bring our students two outstanding trainings (learning opportunities). During the first two weeks of April all 9th grade students will be included in training focused on the QPR Suicide Prevention strategy and the Hope 4 Tomorrow program.
As our Superintendent has shared, the safety and well being of our students and staff is our top priority. It’s our goal to equip students with the tools to ensure a healthy mindset throughout life. You will find some added details about the QPR Suicide Prevention strategy and the Hope 4 Tomorrow program below.
QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) - QPR are three steps anyone can use to help save a person from completing suicide. We are pleased to be partnering with the Montgomery County Mobile Crisis Unit to host this powerful training to all 9th grade students on April 2nd.
Hope 4 Tomorrow - Hope 4 Tomorrow is a program designed to educate students about mental health and suicide. Students will learn skills that can bolster their wellness and be empowered to ask for help for themselves or someone else. This highly interactive presentation uses activities such as games, volunteering opportunities, and polling. All 9th grade students will learn about Hope 4 Tomorrow during a Social Studies class on either April 8th or 9th.
If you would like for your son/daughter to not participate in one or both of these opportunities, please email Mrs. Clemmer, the Principal Administrative Assistant, at jclemmer@pgsd.org. Any Opt Out requests must be submitted prior to March 29, 2019.
Sincerely,
Bill Ziegler, Ed.D.

Laptop Summer Take Home Option and Collection
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of the school year, we will be offering students currently in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades the opportunity to keep their laptops over the summer. As we did last year around this time, we are asking parents of students for whom the summer option is appealing to prepay the device coverage fee for the 2019-2020 school year. The fee for device coverage is the same as last year.
We do ask that you confirm your intent to participate via a brief survey found here as well as acknowledge agreement to the terms and conditions of the DiLE program. Payments can be made on the MySchoolBucks website found here and must be made by June 1st, 2019. *Please note that if fees have not been received by June 14th, student devices will be disabled for the summer.
To the parents of current Middle School students: Due to the proposed replacement of student iPads at the Middle School, we will be collecting all devices from students at the beginning of June. To prevent any charges for the replacement of equipment, students will be required to turn in their iPad and the original Apple charging cable and brick. Lost or damaged equipment can be purchased on the MySchoolBucks website found here.
To the parents of all High School students not participating in the Summer Take-Home option: We will be collecting devices from students at the beginning of June. To prevent any charges for the replacement of equipment, students will be required to turn in their laptop, original Apple power brick, and their laptop bag with shoulder strap. Lost or damaged equipment can be purchased on the MySchoolBucks website found here.
We will send additional details on the distribution of devices to the parents and guardians of High School and Middle School students over the summer.
Thank you,
Pottsgrove Technology Department
