Newsletter Week 8 Term 2

Meeanee School 22nd June, 2022

MESSAGE FROM THE SWIVELLY CHAIR

Our Parent Interviews take place next Monday and Tuesday afternoon. At the time of writing this newsletter two thirds of people have booked an interview. This interview is a great chance to quickly catch up with your child's teacher and check their progress.

We have some exciting events coming up over the next two and a half weeks. This week students get to trade in their CBG's for prizes. Our Robotics group will begin next week and thanks to the generosity of Mr Fox at Mayfair School we have got more resources to use. In the last week of term a Year 7/8 and Year 5/6 team will be heading over to Karamu High School to take part in a Ki-o-rahi tournament.

The PTA's chocolate fundraiser is going well. Please remember to bank the money into the school PTA account and return any unsold chocolates to the office. We have a lot of people still wanting to sell chocolates.

Board of Trustees Elections take place in September. If you have ever been interested in being on the Board of Trustees, feel free to send me an email and I can send you some information on what the role actually entails. Trustees hold a very important place in the school as the people in charge of governance, while the Principal is like the CEO and looks after the management side of the school making the day to day decisions. We have 8 meetings a year (2 a term), which usually take around 2 hours.

Be Kind, Stay Safe,

Damion

POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING

This weeks PB4L focus is:

RESPECT

We speak appropriately to others.

At Assembly last week we watched a cool video by Kid President about 20 nice things you can say!

ASSEMBLY WINNERS

Congratulations!

Well done to Leah who came fourth in Dressage and fourth overall in the Flaxmere Pony Club competition over the weekend at the Equestrian Park.

Canoe Polo Final

On Saturday 2nd July, our Year 7/8 Meeanee Maestro's team will be playing in the E3b grade final against Hastings. We wish them the best of luck in their pursuit to win the title. This team went through the season undefeated.

Our other 2 teams did our school proud and the growth in their ability was excellent. Thanks again to the outstanding parents and whanau who turned up each week. It's great to have the level of support we enjoy.
