BFH Falcons' View

March 20 to 23, 2023

Principal's Message

Dear Falcon students and families,

As we move into the last week of school before Spring Break, I'd like to remind all of our families about the importance of submitting their responses in the EIPS 2022-23 Parent/Caregiver Survey. All of the feedback we receive from this survey plays an important role in many of the decisions we make as a school division and within our own Bev Facey school community. If you have already completed the survey, I would like to thank you. If you still have yet to complete it, please check out the information blurbs below. The EIPS Parent/Caregiver survey can be accessed by all parents at the link below the following article.

This week we have our Student-Parent-Teacher conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday. We are looking forward to welcoming all our parents into the school on those evenings. While visiting us for conferences, please also consider attending our School Council Meeting at 6 p.m. in our library on Tuesday, or if you need help with registration, you could attend the registration information session from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the library as well.

Just a quick reminder that our school council's Bev Facey staff recognition form initiative has been running for the last two weeks, and we really appreciate those of you who have taken the time to recognize our staff for their great work. If you are interested in sharing some recognition of that work, please click on the link below.

I hope you all have an amazing week leading up to Spring Break and, as always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

Bev Facey Community High - School Council

Bev Facey's School Council meets every third Tuesday of the month from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in our school library. This Tuesday (March 21) is our slated March meeting. Our council is vital to our school community, and we would love to see as many parents as possible attend. Please peruse the agenda and the minutes from February's meeting via the PDF Links below this article.

Our last several meetings have been a hybrid model allowing our parents to attend in person or virtually, and many have let me know that this method is preferred moving forward. If you are interested in attending via Microsoft Teams the link is below.

BFCHS School Council

Next Meeting- March 21, 2023. Our School Council is vital to our school community and has the opportunity to provide advice on the development of the school's mission, vision, and philosophy.

BFCHS 2023-24 Course Registrations

Students have received the information needed to register, all of which can also be found on our website under Registration Information. There you will find links to our 2023-2024 Program Guide, course request forms, high school planning page, and the Course Selections Presentation.

This year we are having students enter their course selections online at home with their parents/guardians. Parents/guardians will need to access the PowerSchool Parent Portal to complete the online request page. It will not be accessible through the student’s PowerSchool login. Before being able to enter course requests, parents/guardians will need to submit a correction verification form through the PowerSchool Parent Portal to update their student’s profile. Once this is complete, you can then access the class selections page. If you require assistance with your PowerSchool Parent Portal login, please contact out main office either by phone at 780-467-0044 or email at general.bfh@eips.ca. Now that registration pages have opened up on March 15, 2023, please access our how-to video on our Registration Information page (or by clicking the button below) showing the process of selecting course requests.

Important dates:

  • March 15, 2023 – Course requests pages open to enter selections
  • March 22, 2023 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. – Information and help session on entering course requests online held at Bev Facey
  • March 23, 2023 – Deadline for entering current grade 10 and 11 student course selections

As always, we are here to support your student through the process of selecting classes. If they require assistance, have them book an appointment with either their guidance counselor in Student Services or grade level administrator. We are more than happy to sit down with them to discuss course selections for next year.

Big picture

Bev Facey's Community is asking our Staff and Students to wear Brightly colored Socks on March 21 in support of WDSD

This date was picked for its significance, as Down Syndrome happens when the 21st chromosome is triplicated – as in 3/21. People wear odd brightly colored socks on WDSD because chromosomes resemble socks. We hope our Facey family can all take part in supporting this intiative!
