FIRST Robotics Competition - Sat, Feb 15
The 2020 FIRST Tech Challenge will be held February 15 at 10 a.m at Champlain Valley Union High School. The event is FREE and open to the public.
PLP day - Mon, Feb 17
All students will report to advisory on Monday, Feb 17 for a PLP day.
STEM Thursday, Feb 20
Due to the winter carnival on Fri the 21st, our monthly STEM day will be on Thursday this week. Please choose from one of the following events:
- Science Olympiad - We will continue our preparation for the VT Science Olympiad Championships at UVM on Saturday, Mar 14. All students who are planning on competing MUST attend this meeting. C114, Ms. Vanoli and Ms. O'Neil
- Math Madness - EHS students will compete against each other in this "just for fun" competition, Ms. McNamara, Math Department Office, C108B
- Mobile Apps with React Native - React Native is a programming language that allows you to write apps that will work on Apple and Android phones. This introduction will show you how to write a basic app and get it working on your phone using the Expo emulator. Mrs. Smith, Library Computer Lab.
- 3D printed hand build - We be continuing our build of a prosthetic hand. Check out this video to see a recipient's reaction to receiving their hand. D104, Mr. Horne
- Ankle Injuries and taping - You will learn about some common ankle injuries and how to tape them. C112, Mr. Labonte
- Intro and Intermediate Arduino Programming - This activity is for beginner or intermediate users. The Arduino is a programmable microcontroller that can be used to control and automate almost anything. Sometimes this is called Physical Computing. You can attend this even if you didn't go to the earlier meeting. Limited to the first 12 sign-ups. C211, Mr. Chase
- Science Fair prep - This meeting is for people who are preparing a project for the VT State Science Fair on March 28. C115, Dr. Walogorsky
Med Mentor Day - Sat, Mar 14
UVM will be hosting it's annual Med Mentor Day on Saturday, Mar 14 from 8:30 to 3:30 pm. This event gives high school students from around Vermont the opportunity to participate in some fun, hands-on medical activities at the UVM Larner College of Medicine. We usually have a large group of students go, the event is informative and entertaining. I'd like to give the organizers a preliminary headcount by Fri, Feb 21, could you please email Mrs. Smith at lsmith@ewsd.org if you are planning on attending?
