Looking back.... Leadership at the Island!
OASC welcomed 217 students to Kings Island, on Sunday, September 30th. The OASC Executive Board planned the theme and shirt of the day, "OASC's Top Model: Model Your Leadership!" Connie Miley, OASC's Executive Director worked hard to create the programming for the day. First, students had to reflect and share about what characteristics should they look for in role models. Using those ideas, students were then given a bag of random and assorted materials to dress a model from their group. Groups had to relate what their model was wearing back to"Things Respected Leaders Do". Lastly, school advisors served as judges to rate each groups' creativity, and insights on the ways respected leaders serve as role leaders. Thanks to everyone who attended LATI, and to all of our staff members who donated their time and money to help facilitate this event! We look forward to seeing you at Cedar Point on Sunday, September 29, 2019!
Looking back... Middle Level Madness
Middle Level MADness was a special event centered on middle school student leaders, hosted by Claggett Middle School in Medina, Ohio on Saturday, October 6, 2018. 90 middle level students attended the five hour program. Schools that were represented were Swanton MS, Olentangy Orange MS, Ft. Jennings MS, Claggett MS, Blendon MS, and Highlight MS. A special thanks to Angie Marsala, and the Claggett Middle School Student Council for organizing such a fantastic day, and working hard to have lunch donated by community members and businesses!
Join us for Fall Retreat 2018! This overnight event provides middle level and senior high students to participate in experiential learning with other student leaders across Ohio! Winter Programming Updates
In efforts to better serve our membership, the OASC Executive Board made an informed and thoughtful decision to meet student and advisor desires for a March State Conference. Therefore with the change to OASC's State Conference date, OASC will NOT be hosting a Winter Retreat in 2019. While this is different than the past, we hope to see those of you who attended retreat on this March weekend attend our State Conference hosted by Celina High School!
Recap:
- Due to moving State Conference to March, there will not be a Winter Retreat 2019
- State Conference is Friday - Sunday, March 15-17, 2019 @ Celina High School
We look forward to seeing you and your school at State Conference in MARCH!

Administrator & Advisor of the Year
OASC joins the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and the American Federation of School Administrators in recognizing outstanding principals, assistant principals, and school leaders. This month, consider making it a priority to say, “Thank you,” to the women and men who serve in these vital positions in your school.
This is also a great time to nominate a deserving administrator for OASC’s Administrator of the Year. Here is the link to the on-line nomination form.

Does your school have an outstanding student council advisor? Nominate them today for The Sister Janice Ernst Ohio/Joseph M. Donovan Adviser of the Year Award. This award is given annually to a high school student council adviser based on nominations received. The recipient of this award becomes Ohio's nominee for the Warren E. Shull National High School Adviser of the Year Award. Click here to nominate your advisor today!
As shared at State Conference, in order to bring sufficient revenue to OASC and also expose as many student leaders to our programming, we need attendance at our year round events to increase! While the feedback on our events continues to reflect the high quality programming and experiences we have always offered our students and member schools, attendance continues to steadily decline. In order to evaluate how to expose more students to our programming, continue to recruit new schools and follow the organizations mission statement of "serving all leaders" we would like some feedback on our organizations name, brand, and current calendar of events. Please take 5 minutes to give OASC your thoughts and feedback, as this information will be used to drive intentional changes to make our organization as inclusive and impactful as possible!
