Weekly Happenings
This week, we discussed how vivid language makes stories more interesting. We also reviewed our sight words and y words with the sounds of i and e (cry, easy, spy, etc.). We will be discussing contractions and continuing our study of poetry after the Christmas break.
In social studies, we continued our study of holidays around the world. We also participated in a "Kindness Counts" assembly in which we celebrated all the nice acts we have been recording at Lakeside through our "Kindness Links" and how we can continue to spread kindness in those around us.
In math, we continued our study of money. We practiced counting mixed sets of coins and how to count quarters by .25. Please continue practicing at home as well!
In science, we continued our discussion and exploration of soil and its characteristics. We will continue our study of rocks, soil, and air in January.
