Welcome to Math Class!
Enlightium Academy - 2022/2023 School Year - Mrs. Troge
Hi! I pray that as you open this page and continue your math journey this school year you feel hopeful. Hopeful that you will give your best effort, that you will enjoy the class, and that you will feel comfortable enough to learn!
It is my hope that I will be able to come alongside you in this part of your education and encourage you to grow - as a math student, as a problem solver, and most importantly as God's child.
I pray for all my students regularly and I am interested in how you are doing, so please feel free to communicate with me during the year about anything you need!
On this page, you will find:

Meet the Teacher - Mrs. Troge
I love to teach math and science! I graduated with a BS in Education and a Master's in Science Education. I am also certified by the state and ACSI as a teacher. I have taught middle and high school students in science, math, and engineering courses since 2006.
One of my favorite things about teaching is communicating with students as they think and solve problems. I love to learn, design and create. Teaching incorporates a piece of each of these as well as getting to know and help students. I feel that teaching science, math, and engineering courses help me to understand how a student views the world and allows me to learn alongside them about the world God created.
I am married and have five children, and we recently moved our family from Florida to Tennessee. I love to read and spend time outside with my family. We miss the beach but have lots of space where we live now!
I look forward to supporting you in math class this year and encouraging your love and curiosity about the world around you. Please contact me with any questions or concerns you have while you are in this course!
Exploring the World
There's always something to learn at the beach!
Hiking with Family
AP Chemistry
I love to teach chemistry and get to know my students! (This was taken when I brought my newest baby girl to meet my AP Chem students.)
Co-teachers
Who are co-teachers?
Co-teachers are other math teachers that will help answer your questions and grade your work occasionally. Each teacher is qualified to help you if you have a question! You may see any of the following teachers in your account during your coursework:
- Ms. Culp
- Mr. Lamoureux
- Ms. Mittler
- Mr. Streicher
- Mrs. Sanchez
- Mrs. Troge
Why do we use co-teachers?
Collectively, the teachers in the math department collaborate to ensure that our students are appreciated, respected, and supported. This often takes the form of more than one teacher assisting another teacher in busy times or during an absence.
5 Essentials for Math Success at Enlightium
When learning new math ideas, you can expect to be challenged and to work hard sometimes. Please know that deep learning often comes with struggle! I am here to help you and support you, so please don't be afraid to ask when you feel stuck or stressed. My expectation is that we both work diligently, do our best, and give the glory for any success to God.
Based on previous student answers and work, here are my best tips for success in this math course. This means that you are learning, not simply working for the best grade possible.
#1: NEVER LEAVE IT BLANK
Never submit blank answers! Leaving an answer blank on purpose is against school policy. If you feel stuck or lost on a problem or assignment, please send me a message directly from the question that you are working on (use the help message box). I am here to get you started in the right direction or explain it in a way that makes sense.
Questions left blank will score 0 points as well as reduce the assignment grade -15%.
Showing your problem-solving steps communicates your understanding of math and your approach to solving problems. In writer's box questions, you should always show your work numerically or in words.
- If you use a calculator, show what you entered and got for an answer.
- If you do work in your head, use numbers or words to explain your thought process.
- If you do work on paper, take a photo and upload it.
If you do not show your work, even if you have the correct answer, you will not earn most of the points for that question.
#3: NOTES
Take notes as you go through your lessons in a notebook or on paper. This includes formulas and things you know you won't remember or memorize. You can (and are encouraged to) use your notes on quizzes and tests!
#4: COMMUNICATE WELL
Communicating effectively in all areas of your life now is one way we can prepare you for life ahead.
- To help you develop and practice this skill, you should write in complete sentences and check for spelling or grammar errors.
- Before you submit an answer, check it for capitalization and punctuation marks.
- Points may be taken from an answer if your writing needs serious improvement.
If you:
- have a question about what the problem is asking or
- feel there may be an error in the question
- are marked wrong incorrectly (you feel your answer is correct)
be sure to just the 'help' box to let me know right away! I will be happy to help or fix any problems you run into as best as I can.
If you:
- have a question about the ideas in the lessons
If you don't have anyone to help you, or you need more help than your parents or teacher is able to give you, be sure to send me a message and let me know.
Please reach out to me with questions or concerns! Use the help message box in Ignitia for quick feedback! I am here to help you.
If you receive below a 70% on a quiz and wish to improve your grade up to a maximum of 70%, you may submit corrections for additional points. You are also encouraged to ask for an alternate test if you have not done well on a test. Send me a message if you have questions on how to do this.

Now you know what is expected and things to avoid, you can earn 1 extra credit point on your first quiz or test (whichever is lower). To do this, message me explaining one thing you should NOT do and two things that you feel will be helpful for you.
*This must be sent to me via Ignitia no later than 1 week after I send you this welcome letter.
