America's Discovery

Christopher Columbus

As we all know Christopher Columbus sailed ocean blue of the year of 1492. With his fleet of three ships the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa María Columbus sailed west on August 3, 1492.

King Ferdinand & Queen Isabella

Finally, in 1492, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella promised to make him (Christopher Columbus) governor of any new lands he might find AND they offered him 10 percent of all the wealth that he would bring to Spain.

Setting Sail to find the New world.

Columbus sailed on to find the rich cities of Asia. He spent the next ten weeks exploring the islands of the Caribbean. He landed on the island of Hispaniola, shared today by the Dominican Republic and Haiti. He also landed on Cuba, which he thought was the Asian mainland. Both islands were heavily populated.

Discovering the New world!

This debate has been going on for more that 500 years. The truth is.... nobody really knows where Columbus first stepped foot on the New World. If you want a good guess, most historians have agreed on Guanahani Island which today is known as Watling Island in the Bahama's.

Making his way to America!

Between 1493 and 1504, Columbus made three more trips to America. He was still searching for the great cities of Asia that Marco Polo had described.

On his second voyage he found that his men he had left on Hispaniola and had all been killed by the Indians!

Who should and should NOT get credit for discovering America.

I do Believe that any of the so called "discoverers" should get credit for discovering America except for Christopher Columbus & Hoei-Shin.

Hoei-Shin should get Credit because he is the first one who came to "The New world" and left proof that he was there then the year 1492 came along and Columbus took advantage of that, and he was the discoverer of America! He brought people with him and sooner than later people were flooding America!

The other discovers didn't leave proof that they were there like Hoei-Shin he left a broken boat
