October is National Bullying Prevention Month

Parents, during the month of October your students will have lots of mini-lessons and conversation starters during their PAWtime on Bullying. Please take a few minutes to ask your student what they are discussing during PAWtime. Families play an important role in helping us create a positive school culture at Lakeview. Our goal is that Lakeview Junior High be a place where all students feel safe and a sense of belonging. Here are some resources to help you continue the conversations at home. You can visit Stomp Out Bullying and Stop Bullying for information, resources and support.

Teen Night - October 22nd

PTO is sponsoring Teen Night. This is for LAKEVIEW STUDENTS ONLY. FYI, this is not a VAX card event as this is PTO sponsored and not school sponsored. Tickets will be on sale during lunch periods October 19th and 20th.

Expectations for students who are out on quarantine

If your student needs to quarantine due to being a close contact, please have them reach out to their teachers via email and check their Google Classrooms. Teachers are posting work daily that the students need to be working on while they are home. Along with the assignments, they are posting videos and links to materials that will help them keep up with the class while they are out. Please double check with your student to make sure they are keeping up with their work. If you have any questions on assignment, please reach out to the teachers. The expectation is that students who are out in quarantine are treating those days like virtual work days and are returning to school with their assignments completed.

October Prevention in Focus Newsletter

Recent Updates

  • We are continuing with our planning for our upcoming Clubs Day on November 23rd. This past week, students had the option to complete a School Clubs Questionnaire, which should be posted on their team’s Google Classroom. Once we close the questionnaire, students will have an opportunity to sign up for which club(s) they want to attend. We plan on having at least 40 different options to choose from, all based on the students’ interests from the questionnaire. Our plan is to run a modified schedule that day to allow for two 50-minute club sessions during the day.

  • We had one family reach out with interest in joining our PBIS sub-group meetings, but we don’t want to limit it to just one! If you have any interest in joining our PBIS sub-group to talk more about what more we can do to best support our students, please let Ben Baptist (Lead Assistant Principal) know at, or call him at (614) 830-2281.

  • Has your student done something awesome or noteworthy? Do you want to celebrate them and their accomplishments? In future Community Corners, we hope to highlight more of our students through the Student Spotlight feature. We have updated the Family Feedback Form to include an area where you can share the details that you want to highlight about your student. Check it out!

Updates from the Family Feedback Form

We have not received any new feedback or concerns since the last newsletter.

The Lakeview Family Feedback Form

This form will be linked in each Community Corner update, allowing families to offer feedback to the counseling and administrative team regarding social justice, mental health, academic support, friendships/relationships, etc. Counselors and administrators will review the feedback on a weekly basis and send out any updates to concerns/questions in the next Community Corner update.
