Attention Families! Important - Material Return Requested!
During this school year, we have sent many materials home with our students to support distance learning, including books, science materials, and math manipulatives/materials (i.e. blocks, place value chips, etc). In May, we will be taking inventory of our classroom materials to determine what we need for the 2021-2022 school year.
To help us be fiscally responsible in this process, please help your child gather and return all classroom materials to your classroom teacher when they are no longer used. Thank you for your partnership!
Field Day Week & Field Day, 2021
- We will have a week of Field Day activities for remote students from Monday, May 17th - Friday, May 21st. Instructions will be shared by Mr. Cortez and Mr. King via Seesaw.
- In-person students will participate in Field Day with their classroom cohorts with social distancing on May 21st. Please remember to send your in-person student to school on Field Day wearing sunscreen, and also send a water bottle labeled with your child’s name.
- If you have questions, please email Mr. Cortez at tcortez@barrington220.org or Mr. King at bking@barrington220.org.
5th Grade Camp Duncan, May 3rd for both in-person & remote students
As was shared in the April Principal Newsletter, and via details sent home via email to 5th Grade Parents, Camp Duncan will be hosting a virtual and an in-person learning celebration for our students on May 3rd. Students are able to elect to attend a virtual outdoor or an in-person outdoor learning experience from 9:00 AM- 4:30 PM. We sent home a Google Form permission slip for parents to let us know if your child will participate in the virtual camp or the in-person camp.
The school bus for in-person camp will leave Sunny Hill at 8:00, so all 5th Graders attending in-person must arrive at school by 7:50AM on May 3rd.

Required State Assessment ~ IAR
Required State Assessment ~ ACCESS
As has been explained in a detailed letter sent home, ACCESS testing will occur at Sunny Hill for all English learner students May 17th through May 21st. As this assessment is not available to be administered remotely, parents of distance learning students received a Google Form, via email, to let us know if their students will come to school and participate in this assessment.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) ~ Mr. De La Mora, Assistant Principal
As we finish up this challenging school year, I am reminded of all the great support and help our Tigers receive from their families and our staff at Sunny Hill. We are very much invested in supporting the overall needs of our students and are already preparing many projects for the next school year. During the month of April, all of our Tigers coming in-person had the opportunity to move through station rotations where they reviewed all-school expectations in different locations, such as the classroom, hallway, lunch, recess, bathrooms, and arrival/dismissal. They did an excellent job and have been following our 3 Be’s: Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible. By following these expectations, students can earn PAWS to be exchanged in our PAWS Store. Students in remote classes are also expected to be following our 3 Be’s and can also earn PAWS to exchange in our PAWS Store, please see our Distance Learning Matrix for our Positive Actions Within Sunny Hill.
Thank you for all of your help! I am here to help give our students the opportunities to be the best version of themselves that they can be. As always, please do not hesitate to contact me at (847) 426-4232 or via email at edelamora@barrington220.org.
Nurse Notes ~ Ms. Finegan
Help us continue to keep everyone safe with in-person learning! It is very important that you do not send your child to school with any illness symptoms. If you are unsure if you should send your child, call the nurse, Ms. Finegan at 847-844-4224. If your child is ill, ALL children living in the same house must stay home from school.
If your child develops any symptoms during the school day, your child (and any children from the same household) will be sent home immediately. Please have a plan in place for your child to be picked up promptly if they become ill!
If a parent has questions at any time they are encouraged to communicate directly with the Nurse, Ms. Finegan, at tfinegan@barrington220.org or 847-844-4224.
