SELF AWARENESS & SELF-MANAGEMENT
The MOOD METER
The Mood Meter teaches students emotional vocabulary and by doing so it also emphasizes the value of acknowledging and accepting the full range of emotions.
"NAME IT TO TAME IT" & "FEEL IT TO HEAL IT"
"Labeling emotions accurately increases self awareness and helps communicate emotions effectively, reducing misunderstandings in social interactions." (Permission To feel)
Upper grades discussed situations that might cause them to feel strong emotions such as overwhelm, stress, fear and worry and brainstormed strategies they could use to cope
PERMISSION TO FEEL
LETS TALK
When we can talk about our feelings they become less overwhelming, and less scary.
The people we trust with that important talk can help us know we are not alone
"JUST BREATHE" IS OUR MOTTO FOR 2020!!
LET'S GET REGULATED!!
Students had the opportunity to make scent bags using essential oils to regulate their energy levels. Self-regulation is being able to change our state, control our energy and calm down our bodies through our breath and our awareness. Making scent bags gave students the opportunity to see where their energy was at and ask themselves:
Do I need to calm down or do I need to energize?

GROWTH MINDSET
“If parents want to give their children a gift, the best thing they can do is to teach their children to love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes, enjoy effort, and keep on learning. That way, their children don’t have to be slaves of praise. They will have a lifelong way to build and repair their own confidence.”
-Carol S. Dweck
