HELP WE NEED SOMEBODIES
The CSAL Boys Basketball Playoffs begin Wednesday, January 23, 2019. SMM is a host site and I am the Tournament Director. We will host games at SMM on the following days: Wednesday, January 23 ; Monday, January 28; Thursday, January 31; Monday, February 4; and the championship games on Tuesday, February 5. There are two games each day at 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
As a host school we welcome schools from all over the Archdiocese of New Orleans. We enjoy an outstanding reputation and the schools look forward to playing at SMM every year. This is largely due to our parent and student volunteers who are cordial, gracious, and kind to our visitors, and to our housekeeping staff who keeps our gym in good, clean condition during the tournament.
As host school we are required to keep the clock and official score as well as provide concessions, and referees for every game every day. I have the referees scheduled but I really need help with purchasing and selling concessions (high school students who need service hours can do this), score keeping and the clock. Please let me know if you can help. One afternoon or even one hour would be a great help. I also need some parent volunteers (or high school students who need service hours) to pick up trash in the bleachers and around the gym after the games each night. Please inform me in advance of the days and times that you can help.
I appreciate all that you do for me, Coach Matt, and Coach Geoff, and the students. Thanks in advance & God Bless.

SMM Play Auditions
We are excited about our upcoming school play, "Seussical Jr" with performances on Friday, February 22 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, February 24 at 2:00 pm.
We are please that Mr. Scott Sauber will once again direct our school play.
We invite all interested students in grades 4 - 7 to audition. Auditions will be held this Saturday, January 19 from 8:45 am - 12 noon in the gym.
Play practices are normally held most school evenings from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, but the exact days and times will be posted after auditions.
Students must meet the eligibility requirements as posted in the SMM School Handbook. Students must have an overall 78 GPA in academic subjects with no grade lower than 70 in any subject (including enrichment classes), and no grade lower than 78 in conduct. If you have any questions about your child's eligibility, please send Amy Abney an email at aabney@saintmm.org prior to Saturday.
If you have any other questions, please contact the school office.
SMM students will have the opportunity to participate in a fund raising Fun Run on campus. We are partnering with the experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run program, making our fund raising easier, more profitable, and more fun! The funds raised will go directly towards "Caring for Carryl" and our technology programs at SMM.
We kicked off our Chargers Fun Run this morning with two exciting Pep Rallies! The students learned about our upcoming Fun Run, as well as fun activities and prizes leading up to the Fun Run.
Please register your student on funrun.com, using our school’s registration code 846-625 or by searching for our school’s name.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 with 20% of our net profits going to ‘Caring for Carryl" and the remaining 80% of our net profits going to our technology programs. And we need your help! Your student is coming home with a Pledgebook today, where you can learn more about helping our school through the Fun Run. Enter all pledges at funrun.com, and your student will receive a FREE prize just for being registered on funrun.com! We appreciate your support!
