Monday Motivation
The ship is always safe at shore, but that is not what it’s built for.
If you’ve watched Project Runway, you’ve no doubt heard Tim Gunn say, “Make it work.” That’s what we have to do in education. Our students are depending on us.
We all know teaching is a hard job. We have to take risks every day as an educator. These risks help us grow as educators. We either achieve our goals or we try and fail. Tomorrow you just might be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. A ship lives for the surf, not for the harbor. If you are waiting around for your goals or your dreams to just fall into your lap, it could take awhile. It possibly could never happen at all. Are you willing to break from the norm and cast your ship down uncharted waters? You have what it takes to do the hard stuff. You know what makes good teaching. You know how to get through to your students. I believe in you. I believe you can do it. So...make it work!
SOMETHING TO HELP US GROW
7 Mindsets
Attitude of Gratitude
• Create Belonging and Significance – Make every student feel like a key contributor and academic force in your classroom. Feeling a sense of belonging and significance are critical needs for most of us throughout our lives. Understand this and continue to find ways to connect your classroom and make every student feel they are key contributors to the educational process. Pay close attention to the ones who are not participating and find ways to get everyone involved constructively in their own education.

Quotes heard around USC -
"My friend Ben is really good at always saying thank you to the servers in the kitchen. He says it to each of them as they put the food on his tray! - A 2nd grader telling me about her friend during lunch.
