Sound and Light
Seventh-grade science teachers bring the unit of sound and light alive to students through various experimental activities. Students study how light behaves when it strikes various surfaces. They also look at the manipulation of light to determine what happens when you mix various colors. The science curriculum taught at Daniel Wright School reflects the recommendations of the Next Generation Science Standards.
To view pictures of the activity, please visit our Facebook page or go to our Google Doc folder.
No School Monday
Appropriate Masks
Vaccination Cards Requested
If a child is vaccinated, the Lake County Health Department has different guidance regarding quarantine measures for close contacts, including not needing to quarantine or conduct the Test to Stay protocol that the district has instituted. Knowing which students are vaccinated will allow the school to follow the quarantine guidance from the LCHD.
Show Choir Auditions
Preliminary auditions are Tuesday, Sept. 7 or Wednesday, Sept. 8 after school.
Callbacks are Thursday, Sept. 9 at 3:45–5 p.m.
Visit Mr. Clark in Room 124 to pick up an audition packet and to sign up for an audition time!

Test to Stay - Update
If your child is identified as a close contact at school, they may be eligible for the Test to Stay option instead of quarantining for 10 days at home. Please complete the permission form in Unified Classroom indicating that you give the district permission to administer the BinaxNOW test. You do not need to sign up for weekly PCR testing to be included in the Test to Stay option, but we highly recommend it.
To sign your child up for free weekly testing, please review the COVID news updates for more information. If it is your first time signing up, families need to sign up by Sunday at 6 p.m. if you want your child to begin testing that week. You only need to sign your child up once to be included in weekly testing for the school year.
