K-C News

We really look like we're ready for the big time, don't we?
What You Really Need To Know
This week's special events include:
- Monday, 5/21: Hh is for Hat or crazy Hair! If your child wants to participate, you can help to prepare them with a hat or a fun hairstyle.
- Thursday, 5/24: No AM K due to our last conference day.
More requests from me to you:
- On Wednesday, June 6 we will visit the cafeteria for a brief orientation to practice using our first grade PIN codes and to enjoy a snack. Foods offered will include milk, graham crackers, orange slices and pineapple bits. If your child cannot eat any of these foods, please let me know in advance.
- On Monday, June 11, the K-C students will say THANK YOU to our room parents, Stacey Nathanson and Julie Levine by washing their cars. Please send your child to school in a swimsuit, with a dry change of clothes on 6/11. Also, please provide a towel. Flip flops or water shoes are optional. It would be very helpful for students wear their swimsuits to school that day. They can change into dry clothes in private after the car wash.
- Last day of school: Monday, June 18. We traditionally break all of the school rules (with the nurse's permission and yours) and serve non-dairy popsicles to the students. Please let me know if your child may not have a popsicle and what I might offer them as a substitute.
Thanks for your continued support in our final month of kindergarten!

All in a days work...
- We are watching our seeds and tadpoles grow!
- We are focusing on stories and illustrations by Mo Willems and are learning how to draw his characters! We are also reading many versions of The Little Red Hen.
- We have been enjoying fun projects and stories to match our alphabet themes each day like drawing chalk children, going on a bubble balloon hunt, building a fun fort, and observing an Eggciting Eggxperiment.
- We are becoming subtraction experts! We all know how to roll a die and subtract one or two from the number shown.

The things kids say. For real.
Student 1: Because they didn't do anything to help her make it.
Mrs. Cohen: And why do you think I read this story to you?
Student 2: Because it's better to help people when you can.
Student 3: And because you're a teacher.
Honestly. This job. These children.
