The Staffing Scoop
Week of May 14-18, 2018
Greetings
Happy Friday Team-
Only two more Fridays after today before we can enjoy three day weekends. I don't know about you but I am looking forward to the extended weekend very much! If you see me loosing power in the long work days though just throw a little candy my way. :)
As we begin to transition into the summer I ask you to join me in thinking about what other transitions we can make for a better and stronger summer season than the past. We always have been good but continuous improvement is key. Please share your ideas freely amongst each other but more importantly with your managers to ensure that the message gets back to me.
I hope you all enjoy your weekend.

THEORY OF ACTION PLAYBOOK: HCM
- HCM was the first division to go through the Compression Planning sessions for TOA.
- 1 of the 6 preferred autonomies that rolled out in 17-18 was from the HCM division (Staff FTE Conversions)
- HCM manages the evaluation systems, and the principal ratings (through PEI) are tied to the district's TOA through the designation of master principals.
- Master principals are principals who are rated at the highest 2 levels of PEI (Exemplary and Proficient III). The Theory of Action framework utilizes "master principals" by designating principal autonomies to all master principals, and those autonomies are independent of a school's SPF rating.

DALLAS ISD ALTERNATIVE CERTIFICATION NEWS
Check out the great news that our internal Dallas AC Program received:
Congratulations! The National Council on Teacher Quality, an independent nonprofit organization, recently declared your school’s teacher preparation program to be one of the best in the nation!
In our 2018 Teacher Prep Review of 567 traditional graduate programs, 129 alternative route programs, and 18 residencies preparing most of the nation’s elementary and secondary teachers, released today, your program scored in the top 10 of all programs preparing elementary teachers, at the 96th percentile. This is an exceptional achievement.
We want to make it easier for you to share this success with prospective students and your other key constituents. To that end, we have created the attached graphic for you to include in your publications, web products, and communications. This badge, identifying you as an NCTQ-certified top-ranked program, will serve as a visual representation of your program’s distinction.
Your school’s high ranking means that your program curriculum is evidence-based, informed by the best available research. In evaluating programs, we examine three critical domains: admissions (selection of candidates), content knowledge (subject matter coursework in all elementary subjects), and the quality of practice opportunities (including a focus on classroom management).
If you have any questions about your percentile ranking, the badge, or NCTQ’s evaluation, please contact me at eduncan@nctq.org. This great honor is a reflection of the hard work and commitment of the faculty and administration at your institution. I hope you will mention this rating and use the accompanying graphic when telling the story of your school and its teacher preparation program.

MONTESSORI ACADEMY AT ONESIMO HERNANDEZ ELEMENTARY
Dallas ISD is excited to launch our newest Montessori School of Choice at Onesimo Hernandez Elementary. Families who are familiar with the benefits of Montessori instruction are increasingly choosing it for their children. This is thanks to its collaborative learning style, mixed-age classrooms, use of hands-on materials and track record of inspiring in students an internal desire to learn. Montessori teachers receive special training focused on the unique needs of early learners and the features of Montessori instruction. The new school will start with prekindergarten through second grade and expand one grade level each year up to eight grade.
PERSONALIZED PREPARATORY AT SAM HOUSTON ELEMENTARY
