Scholarship Season
Stay up to date with Scholarships & Financial Aid
Class of 2023- Welcome to scholarship season!
Naviance Student
Completing the FAFSA/ORSAA
College bound seniors and their families are reminded to get those FAFSAs or ORSAAs done ASAP!
The FAFSA is the means by which colleges decide how much need-based aid a student will receive. We encourage everyone to complete these documents, no matter the family income. There are many scholarship applications that require completion of the FAFSA, even if student will not be receiving need based income (Oregon Promise and OSAC are two such applications). Families with questions or those needing assistance are encouraged to contact their student’s counselor or Kami Vermillion.

OSAC
OSAC Scholarship application is now open. OSAC administers more than 600 scholarships for students who are residents of Oregon (regardless of where they ultimately enroll). One application is all that is necessary to be considered for any of the scholarships a student may be eligible for. To start the application, students should visit:
https://oregonstudentaid.gov/scholarships.aspx.
If a student has already applied for Oregon Promise, they already have an account! If not, it is a simple process, and all college-bound students are encouraged to apply. The deadline to apply for these scholarships is March 1, with an Early Bird deadline (and an opportunity to win $1,000) on Feb 15. Students should contact Kami Vermillion with questions.
Ford Family Foundation Scholarship supports students who have significant financial barriers, who are graduating seniors who plan to enroll in a 2 or 4 year college in Oregon. Award covers total cost of attendance for up to four years. Student must complete FAFSA or ORSAA, as well. To learn more, visit this website.
Oregon Promise
Oregon Promise is a state grant that helps to cover tuition costs at any Oregon community college for recent high school graduates. Students must apply during their senior year. We have worked with many of our seniors who attended our small group meetings. Any seniors who are considering community college as an option should complete this application. Most seniors who are considering community college had a chance to complete the application with their counselor.

Portland State is making Oregon’s most affordable research university even more affordable by giving four years of free tuition to eligible Oregon students. The Four Years Free program is just one way we help you graduate on time with as little debt as possible. It’s like getting a full scholarship but without a separate application. All applicants are automatically considered for Four Years Free, no separate application is required.
Four Years Free is an institutional aid program that covers standard tuition and mandatory fees for eligible Oregon high school graduates who enroll full-time. The program covers remaining standard tuition and mandatory fees after financial aid is applied. Initial awards are calculated at 15 credit hours per term and the amount is finalized at the end of the second week of the term when registration closes.
