Central Elementary Staff News----September 26--September 30
Join in the Fun!
Dear Staff,
Last week's professional development day was very thought provoking. Some might even say the STAR and Depth of Knowledge conversations were heavy. They were great discussions. I am looking forward to more times of growing together in our careers!
Since we are having dress up days to support our book fair, please join the fun. The gym looks incredible. Mrs. Edwards and her team have outdone themselves. I am really excited for all the events. The money generated goes towards our mini-grants, which have done so much for Central.
Monday‐ Pajama Day
Tuesday‐ Fictional Character
Wednesday‐ Crazy Socks
Thursday‐ Pirate Day
Friday‐ Central Pride
Have a great week!
Julie

Announcements and Reminders
- From Nicole Crum: Please continue to ask your staff to check their calendar's for upcoming appointments or personal days that they need off. Just request early for the best situation.
- Grades 1-5 make sure you give the math end of quarter assessments between September 26th-October 7th--This includes high ability students. Please add student scores (percentages) on a math spreadsheet. Copy and paste the names from the title one reading spreadsheet and make a math spreadsheet. Grades 3-5-we can't add a column, but you can copy and paste. Let me know if you need help.
- The following communication went out to our PTO parents regarding our grade-level decision to not have designated room parents this year. Just want to keep you in the loop. Some of our PTO board met with Mrs. Thacker and it was decided that because our teachers do such an amazing job communicating with our parents that the concept of Room Parents needed to be reassessed by the PTO. So for this year, we will be giving our teachers the names of the parents who volunteered to assist them and when they have a need the teachers will call on those parents to assist. Likewise, when the PTO has a need (either in a classroom or as a whole school) the PTO will reach out to that list as well.
- October 3-Title One Parent meeting either 10:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m.
- JDRF (Junior Diabetes Research Foundation) Fundraiser will begin the week of October 3-7. This year we have three students who are diabetic and one other who may be diagnosed within the week. Last year our students raised 1500. 00 of for the foundation. We will sell "tennis shoes" again for a dollar.
Legacy Grants are available. The fall grant deadline is November 1st. I would like to see at least one teacher from Central Elementary submit an application.
- Observations--I am trying to get these scored during the week, but it will most likely be the weekend before they are scored.
- STEM Team is set and call out for the 4th and 5th grade Academic Math Bowl Team will be in October. Two assistants have let Didi Harris know they are interested in helping. If you would like to help, please let her know.
- Math Textbook Adoption will look very different than in the past. Stay tuned if you are on the committee.
High School Spanish IV Class to visit on Friday, November 4. The students will teach a 30 minute lesson to grades 1 – 5. I appreciate your help and willingness to host my students. 9:00 – 9:30 – Central Visit
