The Husky Update January 18, 2021
Information for our Highline Community
From Principal Sanchez-Hart
Hello Highline Families,
Thank you for sending back the classroom supplies we use on a daily basis. It is not too late to return textbooks, book bags, notebooks and bin organizers back to your student's homeroom teacher. Please call the main office if you need assistance as those supplies are vital to our instruction in the classroom.
As we build up our momentum and the stamina of ourselves and our students, I want to take a moment to reflect. I am so proud of our concerted work to grow our students as readers, writers, problem-solvers and thinkers. While we have much to celebrate, we still need to stay the course in helping our students grow toward grade level reading and mathematical proficiency. In the upcoming months we will continue instruction, but also we assess our student in reading and math in iReady and our English language learners will be assess in their English language development. It is important that our students try their best! We know our kids are growing and we can't wait to celebrate their achievements.
In this week’s edition, please find the following information:

Diana

Hello Highline Families!
Saliva Testing Information
This is a reminder that Highline is offering random, no-cost COVID-19 testing at school in partnership with COVIDCheck beginning this week. Testing (saliva PCR, NOT rapid) is not mandatory and will only be performed with parent/guardian permission.
If you would like your student to participate, click here: https://www.primarybio.com/l/cherry.
Be sure to click yes on the questionnaire before the consent form.
Please watch this video for additional information:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIX2tBAIX9s&feature=youtube
Parents/guardians will be notified prior to testing each time. We strongly encourage your family to participate as it is a critical strategy in identifying asymptomatic students and staff.
FREE COVID Testing Outside of School
During this time, you are still able to sign yourself or your student up for FREE testing through our partners at COVID Check Colorado. I will include these links below.

Computer Use and Tech Support
We encourage your student(s) to continue to use their district issued computer at home. At this time we will not collect the computer distributed. Instead stay connected with your student's teacher. They may ask that students bring their computer to school to use or to complete homework at home such as iReady modules or an activity in SeeSaw.
Please continue to care for the devices and use them appropriately.
Tech Reminders:
- Charge your computer each night.
- Shut down the computer periodically when not in use.
- Keep food and drinks away from the devices.
Is your internet running slow?
- Try unplugging your modem.
- Let your modem stay unplugged for 10-15 minutes.
- Plug in and wait for the lights to come back on.
- Now your modem is ready to go.
