January 2024
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
It's hard to believe another year has come and gone. We hope that everyone had a wonderful, fun-filled holiday break and we look forward to what 2024 will bring!
New Year's Resolutions for the Family
January is the start of a new year and many people make it a time to set resolutions or goals for themselves. This year, try making family resolutions instead! Here are a few ideas:
💡 Eat meals together at least 3-4 times per week.
💡 Volunteer together as a family- maybe start by helping a neighbor with yard work or find a local organization to help.
💡 Take an annual family vacation.
💡 Unplug from technology at meal time.
💡 Practice gratitude together.
💡 Try a new fruit or vegetable once a week.
💡 Plan regular family fun days/nights- go for a hike, go sledding, to a movie or play board games.
Winter Safety Tips
Winter doesn't have to mean just staying inside and waiting for spring to return! There is plenty that kids can do outside during winter to help them get the recommended 60 minutes of exercise each day, but they need to be dressed appropriately. This is important not just at home, but for school as well. Kids have smaller bodies and lose heat quicker than adults. If your kids are at the age where they go outside during the school day, please ensure that they have the following items (and some extras!) along with them:
☃️ Hat
☃️ Gloves/mittens
☃️ Snow pants
☃️ Boots
☃️ Winter jacket
Many of the school offices will take donations of winter gear... please contact the school office if you have some extras at home!
Vision Screening Follow-Up
We have wrapped up the annual vision screenings in our schools. If you received a letter that your child did not pass the vision screening and you have questions about next steps, please reach out to his/her school nurse. Special THANKS to the Lions Club for helping us again this year with vision screening!
