What Diseases to do Mammograms, Pap Smears, Testicular Exams, and Prostate Exams Screen For?
Mammograms- An X-Ray image of the breast to check for breast cancer in women who have no sign of the disease. Women should get them yearly when they are around 50 years old.
Pap Smears- Used to check for cervical cancer, and other infections of the vagina. Teens should not get pap smears unless recommended by a doctor, but once they turn 21 they should get them regularly.
Testicular Exams- Used to check for lumps and bumps that are signs of testicular cancer. Men between the ages of 15-35 should check their testicles regularly for signs of testicular cancer.
Prostate Exams- Checks for signs of cancer in the prostate. It is recommended that you get a prostate exam when you are between the age of 40-70
