Hello Northpoint families:
I have some good news to share! Absences – for both students and staff – are improving over the last few days. We’re hopeful this is the beginning of a longer-term trend. Thanks to the great work of teachers and staff across the district, we’ve kept learning going strong during this latest surge. We are grateful for teamwork and the commitment to the health, safety and learning of our children.
It is late January already, and this is right around the time we communicate about winter conferences and parent/teacher communication opportunities. It’s important that you have an update on your child’s learning progress and a chance to connect with your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns you may have. While we won't be having traditional, scheduled, in-person conferences on set days, we will be connecting individually with each family to share information about your child's academic and social/emotional progress here at school. Watch for communication by the end of February from your child's teacher. As always, please reach out to your child's teacher at any time with your questions and concerns.
Important dates coming up:
- February 3, 5:30-7 p.m. – We will host Kindergarten Kick-Off here at Northpoint to begin to welcome families and future kindergartners who will join us at Northpoint next fall.
- February 10, 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Our 4th grade families are invited to the 5th grade kickoff and Intro to Westwood. If you have a current fourth grader, plan to stop by Westwood Intermediate School to attend several brief, topic-specific information sessions and tour the building. Online intro sessions for 4th grade families were yesterday. You’ll receive a link to a recorded session in the coming days.
- February 17, 18, and 21 there is no school. These are staff workdays and the President’s Day holiday.
Finally, for this week, it’s time to get your tickets for the Saturday, February 26, panther party at 7 p.m., featuring “Good for Gary.” For $75, you get a ticket to the party, and you make a donation to the Panther Foundation. Learn more and get tickets on the Panthers for a Purpose event page. It’s going to be fun; we hope you can attend this annual event!
Have a wonderful week,
Judi Kahoun
