Short Writing Assignment One
Writing Space
"Location, Location, Location!"
Flannery O'Connor once wrote, "I write because I don't know what I think until I read what I say." For O'Connor (and many of us), writing is about untangling our thoughts, feelings, and experiences in order to make sense of them and possibly share that sense with others. Many writers try to aid this process by creating rituals for their process. A perfect writing space is one route that some writers take to produce better writing.
- Look over some of the writer's writing spaces featured at Toasted Cheese and their comments about their spaces. Also, read Stacy Ennis' "5 Tips for Setting Up a Writing Space."
- Then, I want you to do the same.
- Take a picture of your writing space and share it with us (me and the rest of the class) along with an explanation of around 300 words in the Writing Space discussion forum for this week and in the SWA 1 dropbox. Normally, you would just put SWA's in the dropbox, but I want this one to be shared, so it will go in the discussion forum as well. (Feel free to copy and paste it into the forum space).
