Remote Conferencing

Remote Conferencing for extended absences will end this Friday, February 4. We will resume absence practices that align to the LCISD Elementary Student Handbook. Teachers will work with your student to complete school work upon their return.

2021-2022 ELEMENTARY STUDENT HANDBOOK

Personal Illness

When a student is absent from school due to personal illness, the student upon return, or within 5 days of returning to school, must submit a note signed by a parent giving the date(s) and describing the reason for the absence. Parent notes may be sent by email but must come from a parent’s verified email account. The note or email must be sent to the campus attendance clerk (samantha.galarza@lcisd.org). Up to 5 personal illness notes per school year will be accepted for an excused absence. If this number is exceeded, then all additional absences will be referred to the Campus Attendance Review Committee. If a student is absent 5 consecutive school days or more, a doctor’s note is required within 5 days of the student’s return to school for the absence to be excused.

Quarantine

Absences for a student who is required to quarantine will be excused with written

documentation from a medical physician.

Masks

Masks are optional in LCISD. We no longer supply masks for students that forget a mask. If you would like for your student to wear a mask, please pack extra in their backpack.

Monster Truckz!

In your Tuesday folders this week, you will find a coupon for a "Monster Truckz" show. If you color one of the attached pictures below and take it with you to the show, you have a change to win a souvenir!

Weekly Parent-School Connection

Connecting school and home makes us a great community of learners! You can also engage in learning by reading the weekly newsletter that usually goes out on Fridays from your homeroom teacher in Canvas. The weekly newsletter tells you what they will study in the upcoming week, any upcoming grades, and/or activities in class. #stayconnected

Playing Card Games

PK-2

Divide a deck of cards into two even stacks. Each person turn one card over at a time and compare. Is your card more or less? How many more? How many less?

Each person pick two cards and add them together. The higher sum (total) wins the round. J=10, Q=11, K=12, Ace=1

3-5

Divide a deck of cards into two even stacks. Each person pick 2 cards and add them together. Who has more? Who has less? Repeat and multiply the cards together.

Each person pick 2 cards and use them to make the largest (greatest) number you can. For example, picking cards with a 2 and a 4 could make the number 42. The person with the highest number (value) wins. Repeat using 3 cards and 4 cards to practice place value.
