Permenter Longhorn Check-In
Week of September 12 - September 16, 2022
Message from the Principal
As the scholars are getting more comfortable in their school setting and with their peers, so is their tendency to act before thinking. Top issues: conflict with peers and profanity. Some of our scholars are using profanity at an alarming rate and accuracy level. We will continue to address it on a case by case basis redirecting them, but greatly appreciate your assistance with reminding them of appropriate language and a key purpose of school being a place to learn and thrive academically. As a campus, we are going to strengthen our resolve to educate our scholars on our expectations for their behavior in the hallway.
Some reminders & resources:
- If your scholar missed any portion of NWEA MAP testing last week, it is imperative they make up missed tests Monday, September 12th. The information from these test sessions will help your scholars' teachers best develop a plan to meet their academic needs. Mr. Linthecum will be proctoring those tests Monday and coordinating their completion.
- We will host an open house September 28th from 6:00-7:30 PM. Please attend to learn information about your scholars' curriculum objectives for the year, opportunities for parent involvement through All Pro Dads and PTSA, and ways for your scholar to get involved through campus activities and organizations.
- September 15th to October 15th is National Hispanic American Heritage Month. More information on this month and its origins can be found here. Stay tuned on how Permenter will be highlighting this special month!
- Scholars attending any athletic event hosted on any CHISD campus must be accompanied by a parent and wearing their school-issued ID badge. This includes games held at Permenter.
- If you are interested in your scholar performing with the CHHS Highsteppers before an upcoming varsity football game, please view the flyer below about the Mini Highstepper Clinic on September 17th. Questions? Please contact Mrs. McQueen, CHHS Highstepper Director.

Information on ID Badges
Scholars' ID badges must be visible at all times and not in book bags, pockets or underneath clothing.
Scholars' ID badges must be replaced immediately when lost and/or damaged beyond recognition
If a scholar loses/forgets/breaks their ID badge, they must purchase a temporary ID badge for $1 or purchase a replacement for $5.
If scholars do not have the funds to purchase a temporary ID badge they may receive up to 3 temporary badges on credit, but are still required to pay for them before receiving a 4th temporary badge. After the third temporary badge, students must pay $4.00 for the previous temporary badges along with the 4th temporary ID badge. This charge will be recorded as an obligation until the amount is paid. At this time, obligations can be paid in person. Soon, this obligation will be available to be paid online via the My Payments Plus portal.
When a replacement is required, students must report to the front of the building in the morning to receive a temporary/ replacement ID badge. They will receive their printed replacement later that day if they have purchased one.
Parents will be contacted via phone each time a student doesn’t have the funds to pay for their badge.
Students will receive 1 day in Restorative after receiving 3 temporary badges on credit (if they haven’t paid for them). The scholar will continue to receive 1 day in Restorative until they have the funds to pay for the ID badge(s).
If parents are unable to pay due to financial reasons scholars will be able to complete community service on campus to pay for the badge. The school will evaluate this accommodation on a case by case basis.
Questions? Please contact Assistant Principal Mrs. Dawn via email.
