Chester Elementary School
April 5, 2019
Greetings Parents!
We are excited for an upcoming productive week of school before spring break. We tend to see a few more discipline referrals during this time, and we're asking all of our families to have a conversation with their children about the importance of following school rules, being respectful, responsible and safe. Once we return from spring break we will only have 8 weeks remaining in our school year, and still lots to accomplish! Your child's attendance at school is important during this final push to prepare students for their next grade level.
Kindness challenge. We kicked off our 5,000 random acts of kindness for the month of April challenge. Brian Williams, our kindness ninja presenter, joined us on Friday with an engaging and entertaining assembly. Teachers have logs for students to write down their acts of kindness. Our challenge of 5,000 acts for our small school equates to about 25 kindness acts per student. We hope you join us in encouraging our students to perform those acts of kindness at school and at home. Additionally, we are collecting gently used sneakers (please no sandals or boots) for children in Kenya. You can drop these shoes off in the can by the front of the office. Thank you!
A big thanks to our local Rotary Club! We had 3 6th graders present to the Rotarians requesting support for their Plumas to Pacific (5 days/4 nights) educational trip in May. Our generous Rotarians provided the 6th graders with a check for $1,000! (I love this supportive community!)
Know an incoming kindergartener next year? If so, please pass on that our K round up is April 25, 2019 from 8:30-10:00 am at CES. We will be providing free health exams, and requesting birth certificates and shot records. Please register your K child online by visiting www.pcoe.k12.ca.us, click on "enrollment" on the right side of the screen, select "2019-2020 school year," create an account and complete the registration. We can also assist with online registration on April 25. Please call CES if questions. Thanks!
We appreciate your willingness to review our communication, stay informed and be an active part of your child's education. Thank you!
