Live, Laugh, Learn, Leave a Legacy
Welcome back from fall break! We hope that you had time to spend with family, friends and loved ones and also had some time to relax and be rejuvenated for a great second quarter.
We are proud to share that our community service events continue as our 6th grade students will be attending a field trip to Feed My Starving Children in Phoenix next month. This is the fourth time our students will have this opportunity as we continue to focus on teaching the whole child. Thank you 6th grade teachers for coordinating this unique experience.
As we look forward to a positive second quarter, on behalf of all of as Patterson elementary, we thank you for your support in making Patterson a great place for our students to learn, grow and succeed.
Important Classroom Treat Reminder
Thank you families for your generosity and commitment to health and safety.
Fall Holiday Reminder
For this reason, student do not wear costumes to school on Halloween but all students are welcome to participate on other dress up days during our Patterson Spirit Weeks.
The Library Corner, Notes From Mrs. Hufford
What an incredible school community we have here at Patterson. You may not be aware of this, but YOU are a friend of the library. Our fall book fair set the record for most books sold and our first quarter Birthday Book Club had the greatest participation of all time! It was fun to help students choose their birthday books and see pride in their eyes when they turned them back in to share with others. Each of these events are fundraisers for the library and have allowed us to purchase many new books and series for our students to enjoy. Not all schools have such a supportive community, so I graciously thank you for being a friend of the library.
Reading matters. If a student reads 20 minutes per day, he/she will be exposed to 1,800,000 words per year and is more likely to score in the 90th percentile on standardized tests vs. reading 5 minutes per day, exposure to 282,000 words per year, and 50th percentile on standardized tests.
One constant that we can control through all this change, and sometimes even quarantine, is reading each day.
