Essex Teen Center Summer Activities
The Essex Teen Center will be open Monday through Thursday for drop-in activities and field trips for youth in 4th-8th grade all at no cost to families starting 6/21!
The first two weeks of June are a transition period where we will continue to offer Among Us on Mondays and Chef's Club on Wednesdays virtually. Throughout the summer we will continue to offer virtual Chef's Club along with in person activities.
Permission Form:
For youth to participate in Teen Center activities this summer parents/guardians must fill out the summer permission form. Youth can bring the form the first day they attend or you can contact the Teen Center Coordinator at nancy@essexchips.org.
Drop-In Teen Center:
There is no sign-up required for youth to attend drop-in Teen Center days from 11:00 - 2:00PM. Once they have turned in their permission form, youth can attend drop-in days freely. They are expected to arrive at CHIPS at 11:00 AM unless parents/guardians notify staff.
Gardening:
The Teen Center is using 4 plots from EMS for a garden. We will meet at the garden or at CHIPS at 10:00 AM Wednesday mornings to tend to the garden. Staff will transport youth to EMS as needed. We estimate that it will take no more than an hour to work on the garden, then we will return to the Teen Center for drop-in style activities until 2:00 PM.
Field Trips:
Field trips will be on Tuesdays starting 6/29 and they require youth to be registered due to limited space. Staff will notify parents the week before each field trip and give details on what youth need to bring such as closed toed shoes. The registration form is linked below and can be found on our website. If there is bad weather, staff will notify parents/guardians that we will be at the Teen Center for drop-in activities. Every trip has an estimated departure and return time that can be found on the permission form. Staff will be transporting youth from CHIPS to and from the field trips.
