September 4, 2018

On September 4 from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm parents and students are encouraged to meet teachers, visit homerooms, and see the school. This is a great way to meet staff and learn more about our school. The purpose of this meeting is to begin open and ongoing communication between home and school. Parents will also have a chance to meet with non-homeroom teachers such as physical education, learning support, counselling, band, and practical arts. The principals will also be available. Also, parents can pay for student fees at this time and complete necessary forms.

Student Fees 2018-19

Supply lists can be found at

Grade 5

Parents will be requested to pay $30.00 for all the learning trips for the year. A brochure will be provided.

Grade 7 and 8

Home Ec/Tech Ed Fees/Art/Band: $25.00 These fees are used to pay for some of the materials in these specialty programs.

Band instrument rental fee $150 – if an instrument is rented from CMS.

Strong Connections

Your child will be scheduled to attend either September 14 or 17, 2018. Strong Connections is an opportunity for teachers and students to build relationships and to learn more about each other. If your child is scheduled to attend on September 14 they are not expected to attend on September 17 (and vice versa).

Code of Conduct

In alignment with the Manitoba Education Provincial Code of Conduct and the Hanover School Division Student Conduct policy , Clearspring Middle School’s goal is to provide a safe, secure and caring learning environment, which fosters personal growth, self-respect. We hope that every student feels that they belong at Clearspring Middle School. The complete Clearspring Middle School Code of Conduct can be found in the school handbook on our website:

The Attendance Policy

It is very important that the school be informed by the parent or guardian when students are absent. Part of our safety plan is to ensure that all students are accounted for each morning. Messages before 8am may be left on our general office voicemail by calling 204-346 9644 or through email at Any changes to phone numbers or addresses should be reported to the office as soon as possible to allow us to be able to contact someone in case of an emergency or school closure. Attendance notifications and contact information changes may also be done through the Parent Portal. Please see our office staff if you have questions about your Parent Portal.

Reporting dates for the 2018/19 school year are as follows:

Term / Dates Report Card Writing Days / Distribute reports

Grade 5 & 6 students go outside at 12:17, then eat their lunch starting at around 12:40. The canteen is available with drinks and snacks. Microwaves are also available to heat up lunches. Students can purchase food from select local restaurants for their lunch. Students order before 9:00am, and the food arrives on time for lunch.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

To encourage ongoing communication between home and school Clearspring Middle School hosts two parent-teacher evenings throughout the year. This provides parents an opportunity to come to the school to look at their child(ren)’s work and speak to teachers. Saying that, parents are welcome to come to school anytime during regular hours to speak to teachers and/or look at work.

November 8 - This is a more traditional parent teacher conference.

March 19 - Portfolio Night. Please plan to attend and share in your child’s learning. Teachers will be available for short conversations.

Traffic Around Our School

Our school is built at the end of a short, dead-end lane. At times, traffic can become congested. At those times, we ask that drivers are patient with one another so that we stay calm, and continue to drive calmly. Calm driving protects children. You will notice some stop signs have been erected. These are there to help all traffic move smoothly. We are going to engage in a traffic study to look for the best solution to our traffic concerns. Thanks for thinking about safety first when driving around the school!
