Student-Athletes of the Week
Laurence Wilson & Mue Carroll - Week of 5/20/19
Athletic Leadership
The "Matawan Regional High School Student-Athlete of the Week" program serves to recognize players who are stars both on and off the field. Student-athletes who demonstrate leadership, dedication, and perseverance in school and in the community can be nominated by coaches, athletic directors, and teachers for this honor.
The program will recognize not only the best athletes on each team, but also those who dedicate time to school , volunteer organizations, or have overcome a personal obstacle.
Congratulations to all of our student-athletes!

Mue Carroll
Senior pole vaulter, Mue Carroll, leaped over expectations as she became Monmouth County's Pole Vaulting champion for the second year in a row. Physically, pole vaulting takes the same type of attributes as does most other sports– speed, strength, technique. But pole vaulters must possess something more to be successful: a mentality that allows them to run full speed with a 10-14 foot pole in their hands, plunge it into a box and use it to propel them more than 10 feet in the air, upside down. Mue's dedication to the sport has demonstrated that with hard work and a positive attitude, anything is possible. She is a positive role model for underclassmen as she always strives for excellence.
