Welcome Back to James M. Brown Elementary!

Welcome back! We have had an incredible opening to the school year. I so appreciate the warm welcome and support of the staff, students and parents. JMB is a special place and I already feel like part of the family.

Thank you so much for having your children here on time and ready to learn! Morning drop off and dismissal are running smoothly. Remember that in the front loop, traffic winds through the parking lot to alleviate the back up on Coffee Rd. Thank you for having your numbers displayed in the afternoon for student pick-up. It really helps to speed up the process and get your children in cars safely.

Communication between school and home is important for student success. Schoolwide folders are sent home on Tuesday. Please check your child’s backpack for their purple folder which will contain important information from the school and the teacher. Class Dojo is another way we communicate important information. If you have not registered, please contact your child’s teacher for instructions.

I am looking forward to this year and getting to know you and your child. I feel it is an honor and a privilege to be part of such a wonderful school. If you have any questions or concerns please call me at 886-4470 or email me at mthrift@sdoc.org.

Grits for Grands

JMB will celebrate Grandparents' Day the week of September 12th. Grandparents are invited to join their grandchildren from 7:45-8:15 for breakfast in the cafeteria. The dates are listed below.

The flyer for this event went home last week. Please send the bottom portion back with your RSVP to your child's teacher as soon as possible but no later than Wednesday, Sept. 7th. We need to know how much food to prepare and which students will attend. We will also print the list of students with grandparents attending each day for building safety.

If a grandparent wants to eat with multiple students in one day, simply check the day they want to attend and list the students' full names and grade levels along with the number of adults attending.

Adult breakfast is $4.00. Adults must bring cash or check to pay for breakfast because the cafeteria does not accept debit/credit cards. Checks should be made out to James M. Brown Elementary. Students will be charged as normal for daily cafeteria breakfast.

Schedule:
Tuesday, September 13th - PreK, 2nd, and 4th
Wednesday, September 14th - Kindergarten and 3rd
Thursday, September 15th - 1st and 5th

Grandparents should park in the cafeteria parking lot and enter through the cafeteria doors. Visitors will not be allowed to enter other areas of the building like hallways or classrooms.

Please call the front office at 718-4200 if you have questions.

Breakfast and Lunch

How do I find out what is being served for breakfast and lunch?

You can view all of the school menus for our district my clicking here.

This menu includes a list of the foods being served and the ability to click on each item to see its nutritional value.

Bus Safety

It is important that all students who ride the bus and their parents understand school bus safety and the need to follow the rules on the bus. Below is a matrix that list the consequences for any student who breaks a rule on the bus. Please review the listed bus infractions with your child so that they are aware of the consequences and how that could affect their opportunity for transportation to and from school.
