Hello Lighthouse Families,
It's hard to believe we are almost one month into the school year! As I walk around the school, I have seen students diving into their passions through their inquiry projects, creating plays, learning to play the guitar, and creating art. Students are bringing so much energy and excitement into their learning.
Conference time and fall break are right around the corner. Fall break for students is the week of October 18. Students will not have school that week. During this time, Lighthouse facilitators engage in professional development, learning design, and communicate with families.
Facilitators are eager to meet with families and continue the open communication they have established. Over the next few weeks, facilitators will be scheduling a time to meet with you for parent/facilitator conferences. Watch your email for dates to schedule a conference with your child’s facilitator.
This year we are excited to be teaming up with Westwood Middle School for after-school activities for our middle school students. Below are some activities that your child may enjoy. If you are interested in having your child participate in programming, bus transportation to Westwood will be available. Options include:
COVID update and help
COVID-19 continues to be prominent throughout the community. We continue to experience high transmission in Anoka County, and we do have active cases in school. The numbers are updated each Wednesday on the COVID-19 hub. At this point, Lighthouse (included with the high school) is not at a threshold where further mitigation strategies are needed.
We do need your help:
- Please keep your child at home if they are sick or have symptoms. If they come to school with symptoms, we will isolate them and send them home.
- Please keep your child at home if you are waiting for a COVID test result.
- Please communicate with the health office at the high school about illness, symptoms, and test status/results. The more information we have about what is happening in our school community, the more we can do to keep our environment safe for all students and staff.
We want nothing more than to keep in-person learning going for all students with minimal disruptions. This is a goal that takes all our efforts to achieve.
With gratitude,
Lisa Cisewski
