FJVD Weekly Info

We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Father Doyle Families,

While the recent rain has provided anything but beach weather, hopefully sunnier days are ahead! I pray that you and your family are able to find some time for rest and relaxation over the remainder of these summer months.

Here at Father Doyle, work continues apace as we prepare for the 2021-2022 school year. Take a look below for more news and information about the upcoming school year:

COVID-19 Guidance Updates

As previously noted, the Department of Health released initial guidance for schools last week. In addition to this guidance, the Education Operations Center, RIDOH and RIDE will be meeting with school administrators on July 13th to provide further details and clarification. After this meeting, a draft plan specific to Father Doyle School will be provided to faculty and staff for review. The plan will then be made available to families along with opportunities to provide feedback and suggestions prior to the plan being finalized for the start of the school year.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to create a plan that best meets the unique needs of our community and reflects the facilities here at Fr. Doyle. Know that we are working diligently to communicate updates to families as expediently as possible.

New Textbook Purchases

We're incredibly grateful for the continued support of Navigant Credit Union. Through a generous donation from Navigant Credit Union last year, we were able to purchase a new reading series for students in grades K-2. This year, again through a generous contribution from Navigant, we were able to make two curriculum material updates:

Updated Novel Series: Grades 3-5

Teachers in grades three through five have been working to develop a series of classroom novels that will be studied throughout the course of the academic year. With Navigant's support, we will be purchasing class sets of novels selected as a part of this new reading initiative. We are so excited to see the great literature our young students will be reading in the upcoming year!

New English Language Arts Series: Grades 6-8

We have also purchased a new Language Arts series for students in sixth though eighth grade. This new series from Hake Publishing places a strong emphasis on the fundamentals of good writing while providing students with regular, practical applications of grammar skills in meaningful writing pieces. The program also utilizes incremental development and continual review, meaning students are continually building upon previous grammar skills and knowledge. Finally, the program exceeds state standards in the areas of writing and language arts. We look forward to implementing this new series in the year ahead!

Introducing IXL

We are also excited to share that the school has purchased a full school subscription (Grades PK-8) to IXL, an online learning platform that combines a comprehensive curriculum with real-time diagnostics and actionable analytics, providing teachers essential tools to personalize instruction and help improve student progress.

Many teachers utilized the IXL platform during distance learning in the spring of 2020 and found the platform to be a tremendous benefit to their students. We look forward to utilizing this new platform to the benefit of all students in the year to come!

Used Uniform Options

Mrs. Jarvis will be available July 12th-July 16th for families interested in used uniforms. Please call the school at 401-821-3756 or email Mrs. Jarvis to set up a time to visit the school and try on any available used uniforms. Families can also schedule a time outside the the week of July 12th-16th if they are away during that time.

Lastly, the school office remains open from 8am-1pm, Monday-Friday (and by appointment outside of these hours) throughout the summer. If you need anything or have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and a blessed week ahead!

Sincerely,

Mr. Peloquin
