Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! It was wonderful to see many of you at the first annual Hispanic Heritage Car Parade last Thursday. Thank you to our Parent Community Coordinator, Ms. Moore, for organizing the event and to all of the WLES staff who attended.
Open House has been postponed, but we will be opening up our cafeteria and playground for parent volunteers. More information on Open House will be forthcoming.
Our focus as a school community is on being respectful, responsible and safe. I started meeting with classes Friday to talk about the importance of making good choices and being accountable for your actions, whether they are the result of good or bad choices. I asked these three questions:
- What has been going on in school these last few weeks that has made you angry or upset?
- What, if anything, did you do to contribute to the problems?
- What can you do to make things better within the next two weeks?
I plan to get to every class over the next month. Will you please partner with me in helping students understand that they have the power to choose? I stress the fact that the power to choose is everyone's super power. We can use it to make good choices or bad choices and the choices we make determine they type of consequences we receive.
Please make sure you are providing an opportunity for your child(ren) to listen to the message I send to them each week. Together we can help our students grow academically and socially.
Thank you,
Principal Hammond
