Board Meeting - Tonight, Thursday, September 22, 2022
The next Board of Education Meeting will be this evening, Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Board meetings will continue to be streamed live and can be accessed on the website prior to the start of the meeting at www.sbschools.org.
We welcome and invite anyone who would like to make a public comment at any of our Board of Education meetings to please attend the in-person meeting. Although not required, the Board requests that residents who are interested in speaking at a Board meeting register with the Board Secretary's office prior to the meeting by calling (732) 297-7800, extension 3110 or by emailing marcia.garitano@sbschools.org. Residents will be heard during the portion of the meeting designated for public comment.
SBSD Assessment Notification
We are required by statute (N.J.S.A 18A:7C-6.6) to annually notify parents or guardians by October 1 any statewide students assessment or commercially developed standardized assessment that will be administered over the course of the school year. Information provided includes the name of the assessment, the assessment testing window dates, grade levels that will participate, and the timeline for score reports.

The goal is to build a diverse committee of township stakeholders who represent the entirety of our town. We are looking for school personnel, district administration and supervisors, Township membership, seniors, parents, business owners and community members. A school budget impacts all who live, work or operate a business in our town, which is why we are looking for this expanded group of interested folks. Please remember that applications are due by Friday, September 30th.
Parks and Recreation News
South Brunswick Parks & Recreation will be hosting several after school and weekend programs at the South Brunswick Community Center starting in October 2022 for Grades K -7:

SPORTS PROGRAMS FOR SPECIAL NEEDS YOUTH - AGES 6 - 18
The Parks & Recreation Department is holding Fall Instructional Sports programs for Special Needs Youth, ages 6 -18. Instructional Soccer for ages 6 – 10. Instructional Basketball for ages 11 -18. Registration is now open and ends October 2.

We are excited to share that Crossroads South Middle School has been awarded the prestigious Unified Champions School Grant from Special Olympics New Jersey for the fourth year in a row! What this means is Crossroads South School is recognized by the Special Olympics of New Jersey for being inclusive to students with disabilities. A Unified Champion School creates a climate of inclusion, acceptance, respect, and human dignity for all students to ensure special education and general education students are equitably engaged. Way to go Crossroads!!
A PERFECT SCORE...
Please join us in congratulating 12th grade student Christine Zhang who received a perfect score on her AP 2-D Art and Design Exam in May 2022. The Head of the Advanced Placement Program shared that "Christine's performance was so superior that it falls into an extremely select category. Advanced Placement Exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5. Christine not only received the top score of 5, but was one of only 197 students (amounting to just 0.53% of 2022 AP 2-D Art and Design Exam takers) from around the world to earn every point possible on this challenging, college-level examination." The South Brunswick School District along with College Board applaud Christine's mastery of the content and skills of this AP course and wish her many future successes ...Way to go Christine!!
Education Foundation's Taste for Education Is Back!
