Carlisle Connection
We ARE Carlisle Strong September 3, 2020
A Message From Dr. Patrick
A NOTE TO OUR PARENTS FROM THE NURSE
Parents,
As we prepare to see some of our students back at school on Sept 9th, I would like to share some changes that you may see regarding health and safety on campus.
**Each student will be expected to wear a mask at school and on the bus. The only exception will be students in KG-2nd grade; they may wear a face shield in their classroom, but will still need to wear a mask everywhere else. Each student will be given one mask and they are to have it washed each night and return to school with it every day. They can also wear other masks/face coverings from home. I recommend that they keep an extra one in their backpack in case one is forgotten, lost or becomes soiled/wet. You can help your child get comfortable wearing a mask by practicing at home the week before we start back for face-to-face learning. Show your child how to put it on and take it off without touching the outside of it. I encourage both you and your child to watch the videos we will be sending out from District Health Services. They will provide important information and may answer some of the questions you may have.
Also, if your student will need medication at school, please contact me as soon as possible to arrange for drop-off. For students with asthma, we are asking that you DO NOT send nebulizer medicine to school this year. The aerosol increases the risk of germs (including Covid-19) being sent into the air. Doctors are aware of this and are prescribing inhalers with spacers for most of their patients with asthma. Please speak with me if you have concerns about this.
Life at school will be different this year, but please know that our priority is educating your child in a healthy and safe environment. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Face to Face or School@Home Selection
During our Virtual Curriculum Grade Level meetings several parents asked for clarification regarding when and how they can make decisions regarding their children participating in learning via "School at Home" or "Face to Face" learning.
The initial selection period for choosing PISD School@Home ended on July 16. An extended window was open between July 24-August 6 if a selection was not made by the original deadline. Parents were able to make changes during this window as well.
The next window for parents to make a change will be between September 28-October 2 and would start October 14.
The button below takes you to the district website with information on how and when you can make or update your decisions.
Attendance and Grades
Webdesk
Students will need to login to Webdesk each day to be counted for daily attendance. If you use your Plano ISD issued Chromebook, the device should automatically log students into Webdesk after they login to the computer. Webdesk will be where students have access to the apps students will use for instruction.
Attendance Guidelines
Students who log in to the Plano ISD WebDesk each day and engage in teacher-assigned learning apps (including, but not limited to Google Classroom) are considered “present” and will not be marked absent. Students who have not logged in by 3:00 p.m. each school day will be marked absent. This absence can be resolved if the student engages in daily learning assigned by their teachers via the Plano ISD WebDesk by 11:59 p.m. that same day.
The teacher defines if a student was “engaged in learning” or not. Students need to show “engagement in learning” prior to the end of each day to receive attendance credit for that day. A student cannot simply login and logout each day and expect to be counted as “present.” The student must be engaged in teacher-assigned learning prior to midnight to be counted as “present” for that school day.
More information can be found at the First 4 Weeks Guidelines on our PISD.edu website.
