STAND UP AND BE A HERO...
Domestic Violence
Who:
Anyone can be a hero.
Words to live by
There is no Excuse for Domestic Abuse.
Values
Values placed on the privacy of domestic violence; upholding the traditional gender roles; preserving the family unity; minimizing the abuse, the feeling of shame, self-blame; and fearing their abuser generally create internal barriers when discussing their encounters of abuse with health care providers.
Emotions
The aim of emotional abuse is to chip away at your feelings of self-worth and independence. Emotional abuse includes verbal abuse such as yelling, name-calling, blaming, and shaming. Isolation, intimidation, and controlling behavior also fall under emotional abuse. Additionally, abusers who use emotional or psychological abuse often throw in threats of physical violence or other repercussions if you don’t do what they want.
Effects on others
I was effected by domestic violence even though it wasn't directed at me. Growing up in a family where domestic violence was seen everyday I am now scared of relationships and love. Knowing that someone that loves you that much can do something that awful to you scares me. I am now always going to have relationship problems.
