Health, Safety, and Covid-19 Communication
You may find Ms. Wozniak's most recent community update, sent to families on January 4th, HERE.
The Dooley Center is using the same health and safety strategies that are being used throughout the district.
This includes:
- As COVID-19 cases increase in the area, we again ask that each of you partner with us and support our efforts to keep schools open. Please continue to conduct well checks before your student leaves for school in the morning and keep them home if they are experiencing any of the known symptoms of COVID-19.
- As a continued service to support our families and schools, our testing site at Fraser High School will be available for students/staff who were exposed within the school environment and identified as close contacts by the MCHD. Please click here for updated times the clinic is open.
- Our students and staff have done a wonderful job working together to respect individual families’ choices on whether or not to wear a mask. We will continue to have masks available in all of our buildings for anyone who chooses to wear one. Fraser Public Schools encourages everyone to wear a face covering. Facial coverings are a safe and proven strategy to prevent transmission of COVID-19 in schools. At this time there is no mandate for masking.
For updated FPS COVID-19 information, including quarantine updates, district data, testing information, etc., our FPS Covid-19 Dashboard is updated daily and can be found HERE.
Also, PLEASE continue to notify us at (586) 439-7600 if your child tests positive for Covid-19 or has been in contact with someone who has. It is crucial that we have this information and keep sick people at home to help us keep healthy teachers and students at school teaching and learning.
Keeping Illness Out of School
Community spread of Covid-19 is quite high, right now, and there are many other contagious illnesses going around this time of year, too. PLEASE continue to keep your child at home if he/she has any sign of illness until the cause has been identified by a medical professional. This includes seemingly minor symptoms like a stuffy nose or tickle in the throat. Please do not assume it's "just a cold" or "just allergies." We will send symptomatic students home.
Please remember that aside from Covid-19, many other illnesses are also contagious, so students who are sick should not be at school with colds, Strep throat, the flu, or stomach bugs either.
A fever is a sign of some form of infection. Children should remain home if running a fever. A child must be fever-free for 24 hours without the benefit of medication (i.e. Tylenol) before returning to school.
If a child vomits, they may not return to school until he/she is symptom-free for at least 24 hours.
***Remember, the best way to do YOUR PART to help keep our community healthy and in school teaching and learning is to keep children with any potential sign of illness at home until the cause is determined by a medical professional.***
OUTDOOR CLOTHING
Please dress appropriately!
We try to go outdoors as much as possible, so please send appropriate clothing.
In winter we do not go outdoors if temperatures or the wind chill is below 20 ̊
Please help your child learn how to put on his/her snow pants, boots, mittens and coat. These skills build independence and confidence!
BAD WEATHER DAYS/SCHOOL CLOSINGS
ALL OF THE DOOLEY CENTER PROGRAMS follow the procedures of Fraser Public Schools on days when weather conditions make driving dangerous.
Fraser Public Schools uses, School Messenger. You will get an email and/or automated phone call letting you know that your child’s school has been closed.
You can also stay tune to your favorite radio or television station for school closing announcements. If Fraser Public Schools is closed, the Dooley Center is CLOSED.
