Zoom Live Lesson Form

We know you have started live lessons and we are excited to see all the amazing things you are doing. Use this hyperlink to access the document PS Live & Recorded Lessons. Log your live lesson(s) schedule. We know many of you store recorded lessons in different areas of your individual or grade level folders. Share where you store your recorded lessons. There is a tab for each HR teacher and additional tabs for ESOL, EIP, IRR, and Specialists.

The document has an “example” tab.

Example 1: If you teach the same subject the same day or days using a recurring Zoom link.

Example 2: If you teach subjects on the same day OR different day using a new Zoom link every time.

Example 3: Ms. Vogt completed her tab for this week.

The document allows administration and coaches one stop access to everyone’s lessons. We will add the link to Mac’s Memo so you may update the document as your lessons progress or as links change. Do not hesitate to ask any questions.

TIME FOR KIDS:

Since TIME for Kids launched, 25 years ago, it has primarily been presented in the English language. While we provide Spanish translations for featured articles on timeforkids.com, we've long wanted to make TFK accessible for more students whose first language is not English, or those learning Spanish.

Last week, we took a big step in that direction: We launched TIME for Kids in Spanish through the TIME for Kids free digital library, made possible by HP.

Like the English version, the digital edition in Spanish lets kids flip through the content just like they would flip through our print magazines. Right now, five recent issues are available, and we'll continue adding new ones weekly through July.

There are two ways to access these editions. If you're a bilingual Spanish speaker, visit time.com/tfk-free. If you prefer the experience to be entirely in Spanish, visit time.com/tfk-spanish.

This week we are featuring issues from the TFK archive where we travel to Iceland to meet the Puffling Patrol, a crew of kids who band together to rescue lost puffins for our older readers and for our younger readers we learn all about what makes elevators work!

  • We added content for middle school students to our library, TIME Edge. Our current issue is available at this age range as well. Sign up for TIME Edge, a sister publication of TIME for Kids, to find stories written for students in Grades 6-8.

Draw with Drew (and Rosie!). Previous episodes are available now and NEW episodes will be released every Thursday. Tune in and join the journey: time.com/drawwithdrew

Best,

TIME for Kids Team

Grades

Please look for an email on Friday (may be later in the day) regarding specific directions on posting grades for Q4/T8 as well as final grades.

For teachers in grades 3-5, the YTD (year to date) averages will automatically be generated for you for all students. These averages will assist with final grades. Any assignments/projects not completed may be left "blank" in the grade book ensuring a student is not penalized for not completing a particular task.

GROW

Common Formative Assessments

Next year we will have Common Formative Assessments (CFAs) for Reading, Math, and Writing. In an effort to take advantage of our time during school closure, we will begin to develop these Common Formative Assessments during post planning. Please plan to meet with your "new" PLC teams (some teams have changed) to begin developing these assessments during the two post-planning days. Please share your calendar invites with the Admin team.

We will discuss this in more detail in our staff meeting on Friday, May 22nd.

Future Planning

As we prepare for next year and the possibility of digital learning, I would like everyone to start thinking out what our "new" normal could look like. We have a great opportunity to try new things, but before we put anything in place, I would like everyone's feedback and input. Please begin brainstorming the following things:

  • How could we run effective small groups with digital learning?
  • How can we confer with students one-on-one with digital learning?
  • What would a typical teacher schedule look like?
  • What are some high-leverage strategies we could implement online to help us continue to move our students to the next level?
  • Are there ways we can make online learning more engaging and exciting for students?

We have begun to brainstorm some of these items, but please feel free to share your ideas on our Stormboard. I have added sections with these questions.
