The unicorns of The Sea

Did you know
Are you ready for me to take a underwater adventure to learn about the amazing Narwhal, that has a tusk that is and 22 pounds that is actually a tooth. In one legend from the Inuit- the indigenous people from Alaska,Canada and Greenland - the Narwals tusk was created after a woman harpooned a large narwhal. The animal was able to drag her into the ocean by snatching the Harpoon rope tied around her waist. She was transformed into a narwhal, and her hair, which she was wearing in a twisted knot, became the narwhal tusk!!
Characteristics
The characteristics of a narwhal are medium sized whales with no dorsal fin, convex shaped tail fluke. The tusk or tooth can grow upto 10 feet long, can bend about a foot before breaking and spirals to the left. There are no narwhals in captivity, witch is good because animals are ment to stay in the wild.
Population
Narwhals normally swim in pods or groups from 2 - 20. Healthy narwhals can live up to 50 years. The total population is around 80,000 and that is not a lot left in the wild, so those hunters need to stop killing narwhals for there tusks!!
Colors of a narwhal
Narwhal’s change colors as they age that is so cool that they change color. Newborns are blue -gray. Juveniles are blue/back those are my favorite. The adults are mottled gray and the older are almost white.
Narwhals and closest relatives
The closest relative is the beluga whale. Narwhals can dive a mile and a half deep. They live off the arctic waters, generally above 61 degrees N Latitude in Nunavut , west Green and the Europe Arctic. Latitude is north or south of the equator why not east or west.?
Diet
Diet includes mostly fish witch I think is good too - Turbot ,Artic cod, squid and other invertebrates including octopus and crustaceans. Foraging intensity resumes in the fall as whales move south and peaks during the winter.
The Amazing Narwhals.
Narwhal are in endangered species that we need to protect from extinction. Even if you don't see them that does not mean they are not real. Narwhal's are a unusual and mysterious creature living in the cold Artic Sea whose closest relative is a Beluga Whale. Narwhals tusk is on the left side unless they have two tusks then it is on both the left and right side. Two tusks Narwhals are hard to see because there are very rare. That is why we should not hunt and kill any Narwhals.
