What Is ISIS?
ISIS stands for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. This organization is a group of terrorists that want to make the world fear them. ISIS was originally a part of Al-Qaeda, but branched off into their own thing in 2006. Since then they have progressively gotten bigger and have become global; spreading terror around the world.
What Is The Goal of ISIS?
ISIS's goal is to make the Middle East a theocracy, which means they want all people to follow their religion and have priests rule in the name of God. ISIS supports a strong Sunni Islam that branches way back into their ancestry. They also support killing others that do not support this religion in the name of God. The fighters have even destroyed holy sites and ancient artifacts even though their belief is a return to ancient Islam. At the end of 2016, ISIS controlled 23,320 square miles of territory.
ISIS and Donald Trump
During Donald Trump's campaign, he had promised he'd bomb the s**t out of ISIS. Trump spoke of the hatred the group had against America and how we need to show some strength and do something about it. Donald didn't do much to make his promise in the first few months of his presidency, but recently he finally did something. Trump authorized a missile strike on ISIS. The bomb that was used is referred to as the MOAB (mother of all bombs). The missile struck a camp killing nearly 100 ISIS militants. Hopefully this is a sign that Trump has an answer to the worldwide problem of ISIS.
