MNAPABA's 2d APA Heritage Month CLE
Diversity within Diversity: The Asian Pacific American Experience Negotiating Multiple Identities within the Legal Profession
This CLE aims to go beyond conversations that focus on a single aspect of a lawyer’s identity to discuss the ways in which the multiple identities of a lawyer—particularly an Asian Pacific American (APA) attorney—can affect his/her experiences in the legal profession. At this event, a panel of local APA attorneys will discuss their experience and thoughts on the role that multiple characteristics, including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and upbringing play in the practice of law. Our goal is for the audience to leave with a greater appreciation of the diversity within the APA legal community, strategies for negotiating difficult situations involving diversity and inclusion in their own careers, and ideas for how they can be agents for promoting diversity and inclusion following the conclusion of the panel discussion.
