Dear Families,
We had a great week! This week we had our Title 1 meeting for families who have students receiving interventions from Mrs. Kane, Mrs. Beall, Mrs. Shelley and/or Mrs. Kersten. We had a record turn-out! If you missed our Title 1 meeting and have any questions about reading and/or math interventions, please reach out to Holly.kane@lansinglions.org and we are happy to get those answered.
We also had our PTA Family Food Night at Ichiban Japanese Steak House and we had our first LES Site Council Meeting on Thursday. We set goals around increasing the number of families who respond to our annual family engagement survey. We use these results to determine how we can best meet the needs of our students and families. More information about our 23-24 family engagement survey will be available in the coming months.
This week, we have our kindergarten field trips to the Red Barn Farm, our weekly late start, and our monthly Lansing School District Playground Meeting. We found out this week that we are in the running for a $15,000 grant through Impact KC for the inclusive playgrounds project. All are welcome to attend our Playground Committee Meeting this Thursday at 4:00.
A few reminders:
Bagtags: Students should now have tags on their backpacks indicating how they are going home. Please do not remove these. This assists us in ensuring your student is in the correct location at dismissal.
Bus riders: If your student is a bus rider, I strongly encourage you to get the bus compass app. This will allow you to monitor bus location in real time.
Visitors: We would like to remind families that all visitors must enter and sign in through the office.
Our Schedule: Our school day is from 8:30-3:30 (M-W, & F) and 9:30-3:30 on Late Start Thursdays (if there are 3 or more days of school). Students are considered tardy if they arrive at school after 8:30 (M-W, & F) and 9:30 on Late Start Thursdays. If your student(s) is going to be late or absent please call us at 913-727-1128.
Arrival & Dismissal Map: Our updated traffic pattern map is attached below. 1st grade car riders will arrive on the NORTH side of the building and dismiss on the NORTH side. Please see our traffic map below.
Bus transportation: must be arranged by families. Please arrange bus transportation using the following link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScEsJBUyk0ji1m--u_x6dAYIfDmCyf0ndjZsYQgH6F-4N7PTg/viewform. Please see more bus information below.
