CURRICULUM NEWS FOR WEEK TWENTY-SEVEN
March 4th-8th
READING:
- Students will make connections between paired texts.
WRITING:
- Students will continue composing expository essays.
- In grammar students will use mentor text to analyze commas in writing. Students will then apply this understanding to their personal expository essays.
- Students will continue to review homophones.
MATH:
- Students will determine if two given fractions are equivalent using a variety of methods;
- Students will compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators and represent the comparison using the symbols >, =, or <;
- Students will evaluate the reasonableness of sums and differences of fractions using benchmark fractions 0, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and 1, referring to the same whole;
SCIENCE:
- Students will measure, record, and predict changes in weather. Students will also describe and illustrate the continuous movement of water above and on the surface of Earth through the water cycle and explain the role of the Sun as a major source of energy in this process.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
- Students will identify leaders important to the founding of Texas as a Republic, describe it in terms of successes and struggles, and analyze the events that led to the annexation of Texas as a state in the United States.

Reading Homework Link- Due Friday, March 8th
Reading homework is due Friday, March 8th. Students were given copies Friday, March 1st.
Spelling Test- March 8
Spelling test will be on March 8th. Students were given copies on Friday, February 22nd.
IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER
- Our Spring Book Fair will be held from March 4-8
- Tuesday March 5th- Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A
- Thursday March 7th is Open House @6:00 = 7:30 pm
- Friday March 8th - Marks the end of the 3rd 9 weeks
- March 11-15th is Spring Break (No School)
- March 28th- 4th Grade Program-details below
A note from Mr. Juarez
4th Grade Parents,
The 4th grade program coming up. The program will take place at the Light Farms Elementary Cafeteria on Thursday, March 28th at 6 pm. Students are to report to the music room at 5:45pm for warm-up and set-up.
The dress for the program is your student's usual school wear.
If you have any more questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. I look forward to seeing everyone at the program!
