The Renaissance

How did the Renaissance impact Europe and the world?

The Renaissance impacted Europe and the world through humanism and the major development in the arts, began in Italy. This era was a sort of bridge between modern times and the middle ages. Thus, the word Renaissance means rebirth.

In the Middle Ages Christianity was the leading religion in Europe however, "In the mid-1300s, a few scholars began to change this way of thinking. They developed a philosophy that is known as humanism. Today, the term humanism implies focusing on human concerns and disregarding religious matters" (Discovery Education-The Renaissance: Origins and Characteristics Chapter 2). Overall the discovery of this new philosophy changed the way many people thought and felt.
