Companies urged to donate protective gear for oil spill cleanup

CEBU CITY, Sept. 13 (PIA) --- Companies are urged to donate protective gear for personnel who are cleaning up the oil slick in affected coastal areas in the province.
Rechele Ybanez, environmental education and information coordinator of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-7), said the cleanup crew composed of members of the Coast Guard and the Philippine National Police (PNP) urgently need protective equipment, particularly masks with filter, to protect them from the hazardous oil spill fumes. DOST, UNESCAP to host 1-day advocacy workshop in Cebu

CEBU CITY, September 12 (PIA) --- The Department of Science and Technology-7 (DOST-7) will hold a one-day workshop on September 17 on “Advocacy Workshop on the Development of Green Schools and Eco-efficient Water Infrastructure in the Philippines" at DOST-7 VII Conference Room, Elena O. Diola Memorial Hall, Sudlon, Lahug, this city.

PH key contributor to global key achievements in protecting ozone layer

CEBU CITY, September 11 (PIA) --- Philippines has been instrumental in contributing to the global key achievements of the Montreal Protocol, an international treaty designed to protect the ozone layer.
Rechale Ybañez, Environmental Education and Information Coordinator of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-7) in today's Kapihan forum disclosed that the Phlippines' key contributions are particularly in the phase-out of 98% of the historical production and consumption of ozone depleting substances (ODS). 25 companies set to participate in job fair in Cebu City

CEBU CITY, September 12 (PIA)--- Twenty-five (25) local companies and agencies in Cebu City are expected to participate in this Saturday's (September 14) Job Fair in barangay Cogon, Pardo.

Over 32 wildlife species of birds in Cebu seized

CEBU CITY, September 11 (PIA) --- Over 32 heads of wildlife species were seized in a joint monitoring done by a five-member team from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-7) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
The team recovered last week 10 heads of Hanging Parakeet or Colasisi (Loriculus philippensis); four heads of Coleto (Sarcops calvus); three Tarictic Hornbill (Penelopides panini); two heads each of Green Imperial Pigeon (Ducula aenea), Brown Dove or Reddish Cuckoo Dove (Mauropygia phasianella), and Blue Naped Parrot (Tanyghattus lucionensis).
